Civil War Smith and Wesson S & W Model No.2 Army Revolver this revolver has a serial number 17428 of 77,155. 32 rimfire long caliber 6 shot non-fluted cylinder with a 5in octagonal barrel. Rosewood grips. Action is sharp and crisp. These early serial numbered S & W were popular as a personal sidearm with Many officers during the Civil War. The low serial numbers command higher Premiums due to their Civil War use. Wild Bill Hickock was carrying a Model 2 While Marshall of Deadwood the night he was shot. Patina on the rosewood is Great; the bluing is excellent with some wear on the top of the barrel rib. The Cylinder pin appears to be an early replacement with most bluing gone. This Revolver is a premium and upper end Civil War piece
