Lot 134E
Lakota Possible Bag - This possible bag is constructed out of hide ( possibly buffalo) and is sinew sewn. The beadwork is predominantly medium blue. The front panel has a red stripe down the center with alternating green squares and yellow diamonds. The squares contain a dark rectangular design while the diamonds each contain a dark cross. On each side of the central panel is a linear geometric design which is predominantly in red diamonds with yellow centers and yellow diamond extensions. The same yellow design is repeated at each of the sides of the panel. The sides of the tipi bag are beaded in a light blue with yellow and red geometric design. There is another field of blue beadwork with red and yellow crosses on the top flap. There are a number of tin cones and red dyed horse hair suspensions which decorate the bag. The design layout clearly indiciates Lakota (Sioux) tribal attribution. This bag probably dates back to circa 1890.
