Montreal Cross - This piece, though unmarked remains one of the most spectacular examples of the Colonial Silversmiths art. The cross measures approximately 3.25 inches high and 2.25 inches wide. It features a distinctive and elaborate form with stylized Fleur Di Lys terminals on the cross bar and with some of the finest engraving. Please see: Quimby, George 1: Indian Culture and European Trade Goods The Archaeology of the Historic Period in the Western Great Lakes Region. The University of Wisconsin Press, Madison, 1966 Page 94 for a nearly idential specimen by the same maker. The cross illustrated in Quimby was found at Cross Village Michigan and is owned by the Chicago Natural History Museum.
